The feast of the Transfiguration is celebrated in the second week of Lent (so towards Easter) and on August 6th, 40 days before the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. So the liturgy accompanies us from the mystery of the passion to the mystery of the glory, from the Golgotha to the Tabor.

The three Evangelists narrate this episode of Jesus’ life (Matthew 17,1-9; Marc 9,2-20; Luke 9,28-37) as the pivotal moment on his path to Jerusalem, to Death and Resurrection. In these pages the word about God and about the men rings out strongly. Jesus appears radiant in glory to Peter, to James and to John impressing in their eyes the light of his glorious face to strengthen them before his passion. The disciples’ gaze too is transformed: they will be able to look beyond, to contemplate and to meet the God of glory...
