The String Quartet

I’ve always had an unbridled passion for string quartet. Sure, I like symphonies, but chamber music enchants me more. I really appreciate duets between instruments, but I find the string quartet to be a perfect work. Back in 1996 I also tried my hand at writing string quartet themes and it was a heady experience.

Now I don’t even know how I did it, and today I wouldn’t be able to compose something like that: I don’t remember the rules to be applied, the extensions of the various instruments, I don’t remember how to write in C key anymore: in short, I was just a selftaught girl who tried her hand at something special...
