Hope: the dawning of the day

The spiritual and doctrinal Christian tradition affirms that it is one of the three theological virtues: faith, hope and charity. But we often speak of hope also in the context of everyday life not necessary connected with catechesis.

I like to compare this disposition of the spirit with dawn because it contains the root of promises as the sun rises: it is still to be seen but is clearly expected. Saint Anthony wrote: “sunrise symbolises the new birth of the universal resurrection when saints will be born in flesh into the vision of eternal light” (XIII after Pentecost, 22).
