The peculiarities of the Bible

Editorial Staff

I retired some time ago and one of my good resolutions for making the most of my years was to read the entire Bible. I go to Mass every Sunday and sometimes I am aware of not knowing - all its passages - So when I began to read the book of Genesis I noted that the Genesis creation narrative is made up of two stories . Why this “peculiarity”? A.C. Dear friend, there are many “peculiarities” in the Bible which you will discover - if you - continue to read it. The narrative is made up of two stories, the first - refers to the Judean priesthood school linked to the Temple of Jerusalem: the second - is not connected to the priesthood and it underlines that creation in a certain way God’s pursuit of happiness and hope for humans. After that there are two stories that try to explain the origins and the causes of evil: the story of the transgression of Cain and - murder of Abel. So I can only wish you good reading and a wonderful adventure.
