Let us celebrate our future with Mary

Fr. Chino Biscontin

As I’m writing, the media are reporting on the painful case of a young woman, abandoned at birth and adopted, who was looking for her “natural, biological” mother through a television broadcast. In response, she received an anonymous letter which, among other things, said: “Luisa, I didn’t choose to call you that. I didn’t even choose to have you, for me you’re just the most painful wound I had at 18. I was a girl, younger than you are now. Everything I dreamed of and everything I could have hoped for, but certainly not the violence I suffered and of which you are the symbol”. And I am reminded of the painful memory of a person I met who had just received such a rejection. Among the hiccups he kept saying: “I’ll never be able to see my mother!”.
