The miracle in hands gestures

On our pilgrimage in the Arch of St. Anthony admiring the high reliefs representing his miracles, a man on the sixth sculpture takes us by the hand accompanying us to the heart of the Saint’s predication. In his sermons Anthony thundered against greedy people who oppressed and exploited the poor. And this high relief is the symbol of his predication.

The gesture of the hands accompanies us to contemplate the scene of this miracle: on the left Saint Anthony’s hand seems to hold by the arm the figure beside him. Through this inspired gesture, Tullio Lombardo the creator of this masterpiece, represents what happened.
